Land Use and Subdivision Regulations Updates
INTRODUCTION
Taos County has recently hired Architectural Research Consultants, Inc. to revise and update the Land Use Regulations (Ordinance 2018-2) and Subdivision Regulations (Ordinance 2005-8). By updating these regulations, Taos County hopes to:
- Modernize the current codes to meet current conditions, providing clear and predictable guidance while reflecting the vision, values, and guiding principles of the Comprehensive Plan
- Simplify and make the codes more user-friendly by combining the two and creating a single land development code
- Encourage smart growth and allow for more economic development opportunities
- Encourage ecologically sound and sustainable development practices
- Protect the beauty of Taos County - i.e. farmlands, acequias, forests, views, historic buildings, etc.
