Solid Waste FAQs
The Taos County Solid Waste full annual fee including all applicable taxes is set at $170.00. Bill shall assess the full fee in four (4) equal installments of $42.50 on or about January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and October 1st of each year for standard accounts. Each installment payment shall entitle the responsible party to one (1) punch card that is valid for 12 punches for a period of 3 months. Each Punch card is valid for ½ a ton.

If you use a commercial hauler recognized by Taos County pursuant to Section 14 of Ordinance No. 2020-6, you shall be required to pay an annual fee in the amount of $42.50 including all applicable taxes, to Taos County so long as the responsible party maintains continues service with a private hauler, which shall be assessed on or about January 1st of each year. Payment of the discounted fee shall entitle the responsible party to one (1) punch card that is valid for six (6) punches for a period of one (1) year, which will allow the owner to utilize any of the Taos County transfer stations and or the Town of Taos Regional Landfill. Punch card is valid for ½ a ton.

Any homeowner who qualifies for 100% permanent disability in accordance with the policies and procedures adopted pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 2020-6 shall pay a discounted annual fee in the amount of $161.00 including applicable taxes, which shall assess the full fee in four (4) equal installments of $42.50 on or about January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and October 1st of each year for standard accounts. Each installment payment shall entitle the responsible party to one (1) punch card that is valid for 12 punches for a period of 3 months. Each Punch card is valid for ½ a ton. A disability form, may be picked up at the Solid Waste Administration Office, will need to be signed and dated by your doctor, and returned to us to qualify for this discount.

Any resident that lives in a multi-family resident development or mobile home park whose owner contracts with a commercial hauler to provide solid waste collection and disposal for its residents shall be required to pay an annual fee in the amount of $42.50 including all applicable taxes to Taos County so long as the owner maintains continuous service with a private hauler, which shall be assessed on or about January 1 of each year. Payment of the discounted fee shall entitle the responsible party to one (1) punch card that is valid for six (6) punches for a period of one (1) year. Punch card is valid for ½ a ton.

In order to change your address, you must first contact the Assessor’s Office and have the change of address updated in their database. Once you have completed that process, you may contact the Taos County Solid Waste Administration requesting an address change.

Please be advised there is a convenience fee on all payments made by credit card and/or checks imposed by the banking industry as follows:

- Debit card - $3.95 standard fee
- Check - $1.50 standard fee

Solid Waste FAQs
Arroyo Hondo Site: From Arroyo Hondo proceed approximately 2 1/2 miles north on state road 522 to the intersection of County Road B-008. Proceed west on County Road B-008 approximately 1/2 mile west to the site.
Cerro Site: From intersection of State Road 522 and State Road 378 proceed west approximately 3 miles on State Road 378 to the intersection of County Road B-038. Proceed 3/4 miles west to the site on the south side of the road.
Chamisal Site: From Chamisal proceed south on State Road 76 approximately 1 1/2 miles to the intersection of County Road C-007. Proceed southwest on County Road C-007 approximately 3/4 miles to the site.
Costilla Site: From intersection of State Road 522 and County Road B-052 proceed southeast approximately 1/2 miles to the site on the north side of the road.
Los Cordovas Site: From the junction of State Road 240 and County Road A-020 proceed southeast approximately 1 1/2 miles to the site on the southwest side of the road. It is located next to the Town of Taos Sewer processing plant.
Ojo Caliente Site: From Ojo Caliente proceed north on State Road 285 approximately one mile to the intersection of County Road CB-110. Proceed east on County Road CB-110 approximately .1 mile to the site.
Pilar Site: From Pilar proceed northeast on state road 68 approximately 1 1/2 miles to the site on the east side of the road.
Tres Piedras Site: From Tres Piedras proceed north on State Road 285 approximately 2 miles to the intersection of Forest Service Road 83. Proceed west on Forest Road 83 approximately 3/4 miles to the site on the north side of the road.
