Hours

8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Monday –  Friday

  • Upon receiving the completed information, enter information in to the database and create file.
  • Make recommendation to county commission at a regularly scheduled meeting as to whether the claim should be approved or denied.
  • After county commission meeting, forward lists to respective providers so they in turn can credit the patient account accordingly.
  • For those providers that require a check, we request that a check be prepared (via memo) to the Accounts Payable Clerk. Attach check to approved list and mail out to provider.
  • Enter claims information on spreadsheet. This information is kept on a monthly basis to assist in preparing the annual county indigent fund report that is due to the New Mexico Human Health Policy Commission by October 15th of each year. This report becomes available in January of the proceeding year.
  • Prepare letters to applicants/patients advising of the status of their claim, amount paid, and for what date of services.

Short Term Goals

  • Amend Indigent Fund Rules and Regulations to reflect changes in percentages being paid on claims; cap limit amounts, etc.
  • Update Indigent Fund Application so it is more user-friendly and available in English or Spanish version

Long Term Goals

  • Continue to work with other counties on updating the Indigent Fund data base that allows counties to more easily access indigent applicant information
  • Look at ways to further expand Indigent Fund services (upon the availability of funding)
